If your admin has enabled the Mobile App Integration Labs feature, you can view user-defined dashboards and LookML dashboards on your mobile device in the Looker mobile application. You can also view Looks in the app.
Users of Android app on version 1.1.1 or later can view new dashboards in the mobile app. For iOS users and users on earlier versions of the Android app, the mobile app displays all dashboards as legacy dashboards.
Users cannot upgrade a legacy dashboard to use the new dashboard experience from within the Looker mobile app. Dashboards must be upgraded in the Looker web app to be viewable as new dashboards in the Looker mobile app.
Opening a dashboard
You can navigate to dashboards from the Recently Viewed and Favorites screens, while viewing a board that you follow, or while browsing content in folders in the Looker mobile app.
To open a dashboard in the app, select the content card for the dashboard:
You can also search for a specific dashboard on the Recently Viewed and Favorites screens.
To open a LookML dashboard in the app, navigate to the LookML Dashboards folder and select the dashboard. If a LookML dashboard has been pinned to a board that you have added to your list of boards, you can open the LookML dashboard while viewing that board in the app.
Viewing a dashboard
You can view dashboards as legacy dashboards in the Looker mobile app. Android users on version 1.1.1 or later of the mobile app can also view dashboards as new dashboards.

- Dashboard tiles: Displays one or more dashboard tiles in a single vertical column.
You can also tap a data point on the visualization to show information about that data point.
Viewing new dashboards in the app
For a dashboard to be viewable as a new dashboard in the mobile app, it must have already been upgraded to a new dashboard. You cannot upgrade a legacy dashboard to use the new dashboard experience from within the Looker mobile app. New dashboards include the following elements:
- Back button: Returns you to the previous screen.

- Three-dot menu: Provides the options to add or remove the dashboard from your favorites, share the dashboard, copy the link to the dashboard, or view information about the dashboard.

Switching between portrait mode and landscape mode
When you view a dashboard or a Look in the Looker mobile app, you can rotate the screen of your mobile device to switch between portrait mode and landscape mode.
Content displays in portrait mode by default. Portrait mode can be useful for viewing multiple dashboard tiles on the screen at once:
In landscape mode, dashboard tiles expand horizontally to fill the width of the screen:
Temporarily changing filter values
Looker dashboards can have one or more filters that affect one or more dashboard tiles.
You can temporarily change the values of dashboard filters to see how the data changes. You will not affect anyone else’s dashboard results by changing the filter values temporarily in the app.
You can view dashboards as new dashboards if you are on version 1.1.1 or later of the Android app. The ability to view dashboards as new dashboards is not yet available for iOS.
Changing filter values on legacy dashboards
For legacy dashboards, any filters that have been added to a dashboard appear in the Filters section at the top of the dashboard in the Looker mobile app.
To see all filters that have been added to a dashboard, select Filters.
To update the values of an existing dashboard filter, enter text in the filter’s text fields or select the drop-down menu for a filter option. For example, you can change the filter value Date is in the past 90 days
to Date is in the past 2 weeks
by replacing the “90
” with a “2
” in the text field and selecting weeks from the days drop-down menu.
Then, select Run to update the dashboard with the new values.
Any dashboard tiles that the filters apply to will be upated to filter by the new values. If any tiles do not update, the filter may not currently apply to those tiles. If you have Manage Access, Edit access to the dashboard, you can adjust which tiles a filter applies to by editing the filter in the Looker web application.
Entering multiple values into a text field for a filter creates an OR
condition, meaning all that the values are applied to the filter. To add another option to an existing filter, select the + (plus) icon beside the filter. The new option will appear as either an OR
condition or an AND
condition, depending on the type of filter option.
To a special character in your filter, such as a comma (,
) or double quotes ("
), add a leading backslash (\
). For example, to filter on Santa Cruz, CA
, you enter Santa Cruz\, CA
.
When you type a filter value for a text dimension, Looker preserves any leading or trailing spaces. For example, creating a filter that contains the text ” pants” would not match values that did not contain the leading space, such as “pants and leggings”. However, the filter would match any values that contained the space before the word pants, such as “parachute pants”.
Changing filter values on new dashboards
You can view dashboards as new dashboards if you are on version 1.1.1 or later of the Android app. The ability to view dashboards as new dashboards is not yet available for iOS.
New dashboards display a filter icon and the number of filters that have been added at the top of the dashboard in the mobile app.
To view the filters that have been added to a dashboard, select the filter icon or the text indicating the number of filters that have been added:
You can temporarily change the value for a dashboard filter. For example, to change the filter on the State field, select is any value.
In this example, the filter on State is using an advanced control so you can begin typing the values to apply to the dashboard. The value entered is California, so the filter State is any value
changes to State is California
.
Select the reload data icon to see how the filter value changes affect your data:
For more information on making temporary changes to filter values on new dashboards, see the Viewing dashboards documentation page.
